Should there be Amnesty for undocumented immigrants?
What if you were from a country that was a dangerous place to
live? Would you run to America for
a better life? You are then in the
United States illegally but you have a good reason for what you did.
You are an undocumented immigrant.
Now the government is splitting up your family and sending you back to
the horrible country you came from.
You might never see your family again and you thought American was a
nice, safe place to live. This is
wrong. Clearly, the US should
grant amnesty to the undocumented immigrants to sustain our good reputation as a
fair and well governed country.
To begin, if the government granted undocumented immigrants amnesty
they could be useful members of society.
In other words, it would help the country to let undocumented immigrants
get citizenship. An example would
be that they could help with volunteer work in shelters with other newly
immigrated people. The
undocumented immigrant could also help financially.
They would have to get a job and pay bills and taxes to the government if
they were given amnesty and became citizens.
Furthermore, the government needs to consider the impact of breaking of
families. The children are
innocent and should not be punished by being separated from their
families. In addition, if we
exclude the adults but give the children amnesty, we will end up with a lot of
children in foster care. This
would create another financial burden as well as cause trauma to the children.
Needless to say, granting the undocumented immigrants amnesty would
orient the USA in the right direction.
On the other hand, if we don’t give undocumented immigrants amnesty that
will only compound our problems!
The additional taxes and bills paid by the undocumented immigrants will
also help our country’s financial situation. Clearly, granting the
undocumented immigrants amnesty would help the USA greatly.
